Chemistry Honors Program

The student who completes the Honors Program in Chemistry is awarded a degree “with honors in Chemistry.” Both B.S. and B.A. Chemistry majors who have completed CHM 113  (or a First-Year Seminar equivalent), CHM 221 , CHM 222 , CHM 244 , PHY 121 , PHY 122 , MTH 125 , and MTH 126  are designated departmental honors candidates if they have an overall grade-point average of at least 3.40, a Chemistry and Biochemistry grade-point average of at least 3.40 and have conducted research in the department. To successfully complete the program, a student must maintain the above grade-point averages and earn at least a “B+” on both the thesis and thesis defense required for CHM 450 - Senior Spring Chemistry Seminar & Thesis .
