The Visual and Performing Arts Major with a Concentration in Music requires the completion of 8 courses plus 9 additional credits of performance-based work.

Complete Three Music History Courses
Complete Three Music Theory/Technology Courses
Complete Three Credits of Piano
Students who already have a command of piano may test out through a piano proficiency exam. These students must substitute three additional semesters of studio lessons on the same instrument or voice for these three credits. Complete Nine Credits of Performance Based Courses
Option A: Complete 3 credits of studio lessons on the same instrument/voice plus 6 of participation in ensembles. Students must participate in one or two of the same ensemble (i.e. 6 credits of Guitar Ensemble; or 3 credits of Concert Ensemble and 3 credits of Collegiate Chorale.) Option B: Complete 6 credits of studio lessons on one or two instruments/voice and 3 credits of participation in one ensemble (i.e. 6 credits of flute lessons and 3 credits of Concert Ensemble; or 3 credits of voice lessons, 3 credits of piano lessons, and 3 credits in Collegiate Chorale.) Complete the Music Capstone Course
