Program Mission:
The B.S. in Exercise Science offers a comprehensive foundation in both the biological and psychological aspects of exercise along with the skill set necessary to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting. Students majoring in exercise science can pursue professional certification or further training in graduate school to achieve a career as an, including but not limited to, athletic trainer, strength and conditioning coach, exercise physiologist, physical therapist, personal trainer, exercise physiologist, or rehabilitation specialist.
Learning Goals:
Majors in Exercise Science will:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the human musculoskeletal system and movement.
- Understand the role of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, changes in, and adaptations within during aerobic and anaerobic training.
- learn how to assess physical fitness and understand the scientific basis for exercise recommendations.
- gain direct experience critical to the discernment of post-baccalaureate and graduate school plans in professional athletic and rehabilitation settings.
The major in Exercise Science requires the completion of 18 courses.
