The Digital Media Production major at Stonehill College is designed to equip students with the creative, technical, and analytical skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving media landscape. This interdisciplinary program offers a dynamic curriculum that integrates storytelling, media technology, and critical thinking, preparing students for careers in film, television, social media, marketing, and beyond. One of the unique aspects of the Digital Media Production major is its interdisciplinary structure. Students have the opportunity to take courses across various departments, allowing them to tailor their education to their specific interests and career goals.

Mission

The mission of the Digital Media Production major is to foster innovative media creators who can effectively communicate ideas across a variety of digital platforms. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration, and adaptability, empowering students to become critical thinkers and have them gain real-world experience.

Learning Goals

  1. Creative Storytelling: Develop compelling narratives using various digital media formats, including video, audio, and interactive content.
  2. Technical Proficiency: Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software and equipment to produce high-quality media content.
  3. Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Explore media production through a multidisciplinary lens by taking courses across several departments such as communication, visual and performing arts, or graphic design.
  4. Critical Analysis: Understand the social, cultural, and ethical implications of digital media and develop the ability to critique media from multiple perspectives.
  5. Professional Development: Build a strong portfolio and gain real-world experience

The Digital Media Production major requires the completion of 12 courses.
