The Sport Management major is offered in the Department of Sport Management  in the Meehan School of Business .

The global sport industry is one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic sectors of the economy, offering diverse opportunities for leadership, innovation, and impact. The Sport Management major prepares students to thrive in this competitive field by combining a strong foundation in business with an applied focus on the unique challenges and opportunities within sports.

Through a curriculum that blends marketing, finance, sales, event management, law, and analytics, students will explore how sport organizations operate and succeed in a constantly evolving landscape. Coursework emphasizes both the theory and practice of sport business, while the department’s strong focus on experiential learning ensures that students gain real-world experience through internships, client-based projects, and opportunities to work behind the scenes at major sporting events.

Students will develop key skills in marketing strategy, ticket sales, event operations, and sport governance, along with critical thinking, communication, and leadership abilities valued across the field. A wide range of electives enables students to customize their learning experience toward areas such as international sport, digital media, or facility management.

Graduates of the Sport Management program are prepared for careers across professional and collegiate athletics, recreational and community sport, marketing agencies, media organizations, and global sport governing bodies. Career paths include sport marketing, event and facility management, ticket sales, sponsorship, athlete representation, and analytics, equipping students to enter one of the most exciting industries in the world.
