The student who completes the Honors Program in Chemistry is awarded a degree “with honors in Chemistry.” Both B.S. and B.A. Chemistry majors who have completed CHM 113, CHM 221, CHM 222, CHM 244, PHY 121, PHY 122, MTH 125, and MTH 126 are designated departmental honors candidates if they have an overall grade-point average of at least 3.4, a Chemistry and Biochemistry grade-point average of at least 3.4 and have conducted research in the department. To successfully complete the program, a student must maintain the above grade-point averages and earn at least a “B+” on both the thesis and thesis defense required for CHM 449 - Seminar and Thesis.
