CRM 227 - Introduction to Corrections3 Credits Offered Fall and Spring The purpose of this course is to provide students with a general, theoretical, and practical understanding of the field of corrections in the United States. More specifically, we will explore the following areas: the history and goals of corrections, the various organizations that comprise the American correctional system, institutional and community-based corrections, current issues in the area of corrections, and the complexities of living and working in the correctional environment.
