SOC 311 - Quantitative Research3 Credits Offered Spring An introduction to descriptive and inferential statistical methods as applied to research in sociology. Topics include measures of central tendency, dispersion, hypothesis testing using parametric and nonparametric tests, contingency table analysis, t-tests, analysis of variance, correlation and regression. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) will be used throughout the course.
Prerequisite(s)/Restriction(s): SOC 101 - Introduction to Sociology and one additional sociology class Core Curriculum Attribute(s): Statistical Reasoning Note: Not open to Biology majors.
