CRM 204 - Sociology of the Prison3 Credits Offered Spring This course examines the basic structure of American prisons-their purposes and their effects. Focal issues include the history and rationale for imprisonment, the world of the prisoner and the correctional officer, and rehabilitation. Students will examine the development of prison policy and its implementation with regards to current criminological theory and research. Current public opinion will be discussed throughout the course.
