CRM 226 - Race, Racial Justice & EquityThree Credits Both Fall and Spring
The course provides and overview of race and racial justice in the United States and the historical underpinnings of the Racial and Ethnic Disparities (RED) that have impacted the fair and impartial delivery of justice. Topical areas include the social and structural underpinnings rooted in race and the impact that is has had in driving RED in arrests, conviction, and sentencing in all aspects of the criminal justice system. Students will be introduced to the importance and the need for a counterbalance in using workplace diversity and cultural competency to improve criminal justice outcomes relative to race and racial justice.
