BIO 419 - Wetlands: Ecology, Hydrology, RestorationThree Credits
Fall Semester
Role of wetlands in hydrology and landscape ecology. Functions of marshes, swamps and bogs in water and nutrient cycles and in biodiversity. Links between wetlands and human activities (agriculture, coastal development, fisheries). Legal framework for protection/retoration of wetlands. ( Marine Studies Conortium course . Limited space. Prerequisite(s): Prerequisites: One year introductory science (biology, chemistry or physics); two semesters of upper-level science.
