LC 220 - Learning Community: Autobiography and Self Portraiture

Three Credits
Not Offered 2013-2014

In this seminar we will uncover and experiment with the relationship between writing and visual art; we will explore how the two create a synergy, each expanding and complicating the mystery of the other. We will attempt to dissect the creative process, and examine the many similarities inherent in the creative/critical working methods of visual and verbal artists. The differences tend to be self-evident, but we shall discuss them as well in an effort to more fully understand the unique nature of each form. We’ll meet working writers and visual artists, take field trips, view films, workshop with words, and make a happy mess in the studio. We will also read critical articles, research artists, discuss ideas, brainstorm our own creative processes and projects, and critique our work.
